• What is your editor ID on Mendr?
• How long have you been editing?
I’ve been doing stuff in some version of Photoshop since 1997.
• How did you learn to edit?
When I was a teenager I used to get Macworld magazine. Every month it came with a CD-ROM disc that was full of demo software. One month the disc had a version of Photoshop 3.0 on it. I started playing with it and learning it. I found a book at the library about image editing and started building my skill set. I’ve been progressing ever since, learning through books, online articles, and YouTube videos.
• What is your day job?
I am a software quality assurance engineer by day, slowly trying to teach myself to code so I can transition to developing software rather than just testing it.
• What do you enjoy most about editing?
I love getting into a photo and just being immersed in what I’m doing. It’s such a high focus job that I get into an almost zen-like state. Time just flies by!
• What are your favorite types of edits?
I particularly enjoy anything with interesting architecture. I also really enjoy anything where I get to be creative - where it’s not merely a straightforward edit and you enter the realm of artistic expression.
• What’s the longest you’ve ever spent editing a single photo?
I once spent 30+ hours over the course of several weeks restoring an old family photograph. That was over a decade ago, and my skills and the tools available have improved. I bet I could do it in far less time now.
• Can we see some of your work?
I don’t have anything online at the moment, but I created a new Instagram account. I’ll post some work there in the next few days. https://www.instagram.com/arhyarion/
